Drakes Pull Away to Beat Sturgeon 11-5

July 11 2023 The Marysville Drakes defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 11-5 after collecting 15 hits and scoring in five different innings. Marysville built a 4-4 tie through four innings, fell behind 5-4 after Martinez scored in the fifth, then took control with three runs in the sixth. The Drakes added a run in the eighth and three more in the ninth to secure the win.

Alan Alonso led Marysville with three hits, three runs and two RBI, while Neil Boudreau also collected three hits and drove in two runs. Aaron Rhodes hit a two-run home run, and Tucker Burton and Joseph Starick added one RBI apiece. Lyndon Weaver and Drake Ayala each had two hits, with Weaver stealing three bases.

Nick Adgar paced Martinez with four hits, a home run and one RBI. Jackson Kea hit a three-run homer, and Eric Whitfield added two hits and one RBI for the Sturgeon, who finished with 12 hits. Mike Stellmack earned the victory for Marysville after allowing three hits and no runs with six strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Craig Broadman took the loss for Martinez, surrendering eight hits and seven earned runs in four innings.
