Marysville Drakes Pull Away From Vallejo Seaweed 9-4

June 8 2024 The Marysville Drakes defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 9-4 at Bryant Field, using a three-run seventh inning to pull away. Marysville finished with 11 hits to Vallejo’s eight and improved its record to 29-25, while Vallejo fell to 25-29.

Marysville and Vallejo exchanged single runs in the first inning, scored twice apiece in the second and matched one-run innings in the fourth. The Drakes then broke the 4-4 tie with two runs in the sixth before adding three more in the seventh. Vallejo committed two errors and Marysville committed one.

Joe Starick led Marysville with three hits and four RBI, including a double. Drake Ayala contributed two hits, two runs and two RBI, while Caleb Harmond reached base five times with two hits and three walks and scored twice. For Vallejo, J.T. Reed had three hits, a double and one RBI, and Henry Paulino added two hits, a triple, one run and one RBI.

Earl Johnson earned the win for Marysville after allowing seven hits and four runs, three earned, in six innings with three walks and seven strikeouts. Dillon Stimpson worked two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, and Bryan Krolikowski pitched a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts. Vallejo starter Ike Horn took the loss after surrendering six earned runs on eight hits in six innings, with eight walks and four strikeouts. Saul Arias was listed as Marysville’s save pitcher.
