Vallejo Seaweed Overcome Early Deficit to Beat Marysville Drakes 14-6

July 15 2024 The Vallejo Seaweed defeated the Marysville Drakes 14-6 after scoring six runs in the first inning and adding insurance throughout the later innings. Vallejo finished with 15 hits, while Marysville collected 13. The Seaweed scored three runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and three in the eighth to pull away.

Henry Paulino powered Vallejo’s offense with three hits, including two home runs, and five RBI. Michael Palvecheck added three hits, while Carlos Drain went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Mickey Nunes scored twice, drove in one run and drew two walks, and Eddie Molina contributed two RBI.

Marysville’s Joe Starick went 4-for-5 with two RBI, and Drake Ayala had two hits and an RBI. The Drakes also received two RBI each from Caleb Harmond and Starick. Marysville scored twice in the second inning, twice in the sixth and once in the eighth, but could not overcome Vallejo’s early lead.

Christian Zellner earned the win for Vallejo after allowing 13 hits and six runs over eight innings, with only two runs earned. He walked one and struck out five. David Gustafson completed the game with a scoreless ninth inning and three strikeouts. Rodrigo Sanchez took the loss for Marysville after surrendering 11 hits and nine earned runs in six innings while walking four and striking out three.
